ビーンストークではインターナショナルプリスクールの春休み期間を利用し、2週間のスプリングスクールを開校しました。今回も名古屋市内はもとより愛知県内からたくさんの子供たちに参加していただき、楽しく内容の濃い2週間を過ごすことができました。本日はそちらの様子をご覧いただきます。
We had lots of fun learning about the foods produced right here in Aichi during the two weeks of 2016 Spring School at Beanstalk. Please take a look at some of the things we did!

今年のスプリングスクールはランチパーティーからスタートしました。昨年のサマー以降「コミュニティープライド」をテーマに掲げ、地元の特徴を地形や歴史など様々な観点から学習してきました。もちろん一日中英語で生活するビーンストークでは、普段住み慣れているコニュニティーの事も英語で習います。地元に愛着を持ち、歴史を知ることは子供たちが将来海外に出られた際きっと役に立つと思います。初日のクッキングでは、地元の名産「いなり寿司」、「ういろ」を作りました。
We kicked off our Spring School session with a lunch party! We made two famous dishes: inari sushi, and uiro for dessert.

Younger students made uiro, enough for everyone to share! It was fun mixing and measuring the ingredients. Older students helped cook side dishes: sausages, veggies and potatoes. Everyone made their own inari sushi.

シーズナルスクールの楽しみのひとつに、遠くに住むお友達との再会があります。また、新しいお友達もできますよ！
It was great to see our old friends and make new friends, too!

「コミュニティープライド」をテーマにしたシーズナルスクールは今回で3度目です。最終回をしめくくるサブテーマとして、地元の特産品を習いました。
Students learned about three famous products that Aichi produces: Yagoto carrots, eel, and Nagoya kochin chickens. We did reading and made crafts based on these themes.

名古屋市が誇る日本でも屈指のプラネタリウム、今回は運よく団体鑑賞をすることができました。真っ暗な館内はドキドキワクワクの連続でした。
Students took a trip to the Nagoya Science Museum to learn and enjoy the planetarium!

お味噌工場見学の前に大豆について予習をしていきました。それぞれ自分の大豆を育てて毎日観察し、芽が出てきたときには大喜び！！
Soy products are a staple food here in Japan. For the second week, students studied the life cycle of beans, and germinated their own soybeans, leading up to learning how miso is made. Students all germinated soybeans in their own “greenhouses”.

地元特産品の筆頭は何といっても八丁味噌です！岡崎のカクキューさんでは、工場内を見学させていただき、その後は岡崎城でお花見をしました。
Older students took a trip to Okazaki to the Kaku-kyu Miso Company. We heard a lecture about how miso is made and took a tour through the storehouse.


お城へ行く前にちょっと寄り道をして、ケンミンショーでもお馴染み「大正庵」さんでお昼をいただきました。
Afterward, we all ate udon noodles at a famous noodle house.

桜の綺麗な時期に素敵な思い出がいっぱいできました。See you at Summer school!

今年の夏休みは「コミュニティープライド」をテーマに4週間かけて「東海地区」について学びました。
Join us in reminiscing about the fun we had learning about the Tokai area during Summer School 2015!

4週間のプログラムに４つのウィークリーテーマを設け、「歴史」、「地理」、「スポーツ」、「伝統工芸」を取り上げました。中でも、「鵜飼バックヤードツアー」や「大相撲名古屋場所観戦」「ドラゴンズナイター観戦」などは外国人ティーチャーズにとっても貴重な経験になったようで、教師の方から子供たちに質問する場面もありました。

そんな時、子供たちは以前から知っていることや今回のサマースクールで学習したことをもとに一生懸命英語で答えていました。自国のことについて外国人に尋ねられた時、英語で説明することができれば、それはとても素晴らしいことです。将来海外に出た時にもきっと役に立つでしょう。

そして、今回のビッグイベントとして、普段お世話になっているシニアハウス「寿荘」に名古屋城でお馴染み「名古屋武将隊」の三英傑を招きました。こちらは、チャリティーとして保護者の皆さまとスクールからのプレゼントで、居住者の皆さまはとても喜んでくださいました。

We had a great Summer School session this year learning all about our home, Nagoya and Aichi prefecture! The summer was divided into four different subjects: Sports, History, Geography, and Traditional Arts. Let’s take a look back at all the fun things we did!

Sports

Students spent a few days at school learning about sports popular and famous in Nagoya such as baseball, sumo and soccer. Of course we are studying phonics and reading as well!

Older students took a tour of Nagoya Castle and attended a sumo match on our first day of Summer School! It was tons of fun.

Elementary-age students joined the crowd rooting for the Chubu Dragons at a nighter game! It was a great chance to have spontaneous conversation in English as well.

Geography

Students learned about surrounding areas and legends from the past, visiting the Momotaro Jinja in Inuyama. We also got to meet a real cormorant fisher, and learned about the traditional method of cormorant fishing. Everyone was so excited to see the big birds up close.

Traditional Arts

Students tried their hands at making washi, Japanese paper, at Morikoro Park. Later, we visited the Toyota Cars Museum.

History

Wow, students got to meet many famous samurai from the past! Beanstalk hosted a charity event for the Kotobuki-sou retirement home, and brought the Nagoya Omotenashi Bushotai to visit residents and students.

One of our students had a question for the wise samurai… What to do if your mama doesn’t speak English??

豊田市元気村でのサマーキャンプでは、初日雨に降られたため、インドア施設にて地元の三英傑について英語で学習しました。次の日は幸い天候に恵まれ、自然の中でアクティビティーを実施することができました。

It just wouldn’t be summer school without a camping trip! Students learned a lot about the history of the Tokai area with games and challenges during our sleepover camp at Asahi Genki Mura. Unfortunately the weather was drizzly the first day of camp, but we still had a lot of fun playing games and doing activities indoors! We went for a walk in the rain and even had a barbecue.

6月には、キンダー1年目年少のロビーさんがクラストリップでもりころパークへ行きました。

Robby Rabbit enjoyed a trip to Morikoro Park with lots of new friends!

年中、年長のディーディーさんはちょっと遠出をしてアクアトト岐阜へ行ってきました。

Deedee Deer Class took a trip to Aqua-toto Aquarium in Gifu and enjoyed riding the bus, seeing many freshwater animals, and eating lunch in a restaurant.

Students have also been busy at school learning, making new friends- both human and animal! Our school dog “Mame” has been visiting us to play often.

そしてビーンストークには動物介在教育の一環として３ヶ月のパピーが加わりました。名前はみんなで相談してまめちゃんと付けました。子供達にも保護者の方々にもあたたかく迎えていただき、すぐにみんなのアイドルになりました。

上半期一番の大きなイベント「七夕コンサート」では、外国から来ているお友達も浴衣姿で参加しました。保護者の方も浴衣で来てくださり、華やかな1日になりました。

We had our Tanabata party and concert in July. Students made wishes and hung them on the bamboo tree. Everyone dressed in their finest summer yukata fashion and looked great singing and dancing!

年中以上のディーディーディアクラスはピアニカ、ハーモニカ、木琴に、そして年少さんのロビーラビットクラスはタンバリンとカスタネットにチャレンジし、2-3歳のミッシーマウスクラスを加えて大合奏(唱)になりました。保護者の皆さまも我が子の成長に感激です。

For the finale, Our oldest, Deedee Deer class, learned instruments such as pianica, harmonica, guiro, and xylophones. Robby Rabbit class took up the beat on tamborine and castanets. Finally, Missy Mouse class was our chorus singing in their loudest voices.

July in Nagoya is very hot, so we spent some of our at school time playing and cooling off in the pool.

A new school year has begun here at Beanstalk International School and everyone is excited to have fun and learn with friends new and old alike!

1学期中4月から7月までの間、ビーンストークには様々なバックグラウンドを持つ新しいお友達がたくさん来てくださり、一層にぎやかになりました。

週に一度のジムクラスやミュージックでは、専任教師の秋山先生や宇一先生と楽しく取り組みました。年長さんは既にクリスマスコンサートの練習をスタートしています。

2~3歳クラスのミッシーさんでは、ママとのセパレーションに涙するお友達もいらっしゃいましたが、ひと月もすればこの通り！楽しく通えるようになりました。

こどもの日は男の子のドレスアップデイです。いつもより少しだけおしゃれをしたボーイズは心なしかお兄さんに見えます。柏餅を食べてクラフトを作って子供の日を祝いました。

We had a great time celebrating Boys’ Day together as a school. We made carp streamers and had a treat of kashiwa-mochi for a snack.

クラスが変わって新しいお友達ともすっかり仲良くなったころに毎年恒例のZoo トリップに行きました！

Our annual field trip to Higashiyama Zoo with new friends is always a great time! Students learned about their favorite animals leading up to our big trip.

ビーンストーク•インターナショナル•スクールでは、下記の期間中プリスクールの施設を利用して
ウィンタースクールを開校いたします。今年のテーマは”「宇宙」です。2~3歳の未就園児クラスから小学生のアドバンスまで、それぞれの年齢に合わせた導入法を用い、楽しく解りやすく学習します。

イングリッシュ•イマージョン(一日中英語のみ）の環境で、生活の中からキャッチする英語のフレーズは、とても自然で確実に定着します。また、Zoo-phonicを用いた「読み」、「書き」学習による効果は絶大で、文字に対する興味が増し、自ら進んで「読む意欲」、「書く意欲」が湧いてくるようになります。

期間中3回のイベントを予定しております。特に年明けには、貸切バスを利用してトヨタ科学体験館へ出かけプラネタリウムを鑑賞します。それまでに学習した「宇宙」についての知識を確認できる機会として、ぜひご参加いただきたいと思います。

毎年名古屋市内はもとより、愛知県外からも参加していただく人気のプログラムです。お席には限りがありますので、ご希望者は早めの申し込みをお薦めいたします。

新学期が始まり、ひと月が経過しました。ビーンズ達はスクールの始まりを楽しみにしていたようで、初日から元気いっぱいでした。本日はこちらに9月のアクティビティーをご紹介いたします。
We are one month into our fall semester and things are going great. All students have already gotten back into the swing of things after our long summer vacation. We have already had several exciting events and looking forward to even more as the semester progresses.

今年はお月見がいつもより早く訪れ、新学期一週目での実施となりました。例年通り、この日はバンダナとエプロンを着けて「お月見団子」を作ります。スティッキーなお団子生地と格闘の上、上手に丸めて綺麗なお団子ができました。
The first week of school, we celebrated Tsukimi and made odango! We put on our bandannas and aprons and got ready to prepare the dango. Everyone loved rolling the sticky dough in their hands.

各クラスでは、それぞれのマンスリーテーマに添ったアクティビティーが実施されました。2〜3歳のミッシーマウスでは、「衣服」というテーマでお気に入りの洋服を持ち寄り「Show and Tell」にチャレンジしました。
また、これから訪れる寒い季節に備え、ジャケットの脱ぎ着やジッパーの開け閉めの練習も始めました。
Our classes have different themes each month. In September, Missy Mouse class had the theme of “clothing” and learned the names of different pieces of clothing, learned how to zip their own jackets by themselves, and even brought in their favorite clothing for show-and-tell.

3〜4歳のロビーさんでは、さまざまな実験的アプローチで「感覚」を学びました。野菜で版画をし、アーティスティックな作品がたくさん出来上がりました。
Robby Rabbit class learned all about senses through experiments and crafts. Using their senses they guessed what different foods and drinks were, and used veggies to make printed pictures.

4〜６歳のディーディーディアクラスでは、「恐竜」について学び、粘土で思い思いの恐竜を作り、お庭で火山を噴火させてみました。
Deedee Deer class was learning all about dinosaurs, and made some dinosaurs to bring home. They tried their hands at “excavating fossils” from chocolate chip cookies, and set off volcanoes in the front lawn!

体操のクラスでは、秋山先生の指導の下「マット運動」にトライし、E難度の技(?)に挑戦しました。
We have been trying our best during gym class, too!

9月には毎年楽しみにしている「敬老の日クラフト」のアクティビティーがあります。今年もそれぞれのクラスで心をこめてプレゼントを作りました。
It was Respect-for-the-Aged day during September, so the children all made presents for their grandparents. We hope you liked them!

ロビーラビット•クラスとディーディーディア•クラスは、お天気の良い日に市バスに乗って天白公園に出かけます。この日も快晴で、外で一日思いっきり遊びました。
Robby and Deedee took a trip together to Tenpaku Park. We rode there and back on the city bus. It was a beautiful day!

ビーンストークでは、毎年この時期に9月入園のお友達が落ち着いたのを見計らって避難訓練を実施します。初体験のミッシーさんは、状況がつかめず泣き出すお子さんもいましたが、ロビーさん、ディーディーさんのベテラン組は迅速に行動し、避難場所への移動も慣れたものです。本当に避難するようなことが起きなければいいのにと願うと同時に、御岳山の噴火や台風で被災された方がたへ心からお悔やみ申しあげます。
We also had an emergency drill this September. Living in a country which experiences natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons, we want all our students to be prepared in case such a situation occurs during school hours. Everyone moved swiftly and carefully to our meeting point.
