Nagoya Port Aquiarium Trip.

We had so much fun on our last field trip of summer school!

We visited Nagoya Port Aquarium to learn about the wonderful world under the sea.

Older students enjoyed an informative lecture all about the aquarium and the animals, while younger students got right into checking out their favorite creatures!

We watched the orca whale training, had a big yummy lunch, and stayed for the dolphin show!

After that, we visited the remaining creatures like sea turtles, penguins, and even sharks.

Then made our way back to Beanstalk on the bus- what a fun and busy day.

The Solar System.

Wow, a solar system with planets that can really orbit!

Elementary school students worked on making their very own solar systems, from making the planets to decorating the sky with stars.

They use a special tool to move the planets through space magically- magnets!

Learning is so much fun when it’s hands-on.

Safe Cooking.

We had a special summer dessert workshop!

Students made frozen treats two ways- younger students made in melting popsicles using fruit, juice, and agar-agar to gel the mixture.

After chilling for a few hours, we dug in!

Older students made ice cream the old fashioned way, using salt and ice cubes to chill the milk and sugar mixture.

It was so much fun to make and eat our own creations.

In the words of the children: “delicious!”

Constellations.

We have been learning so much about the stars and how they correlate to our modern calendar!

For our big project, we have been working on calendars with each page being a different constellation.

Each constellation is decorated in a different way to make the calendar special.

What fun it will be to use our own calendars for the year ahead!

Slime Time!

Galaxy slime is one of the most remarkable and most visually stunning slimes out there!

It’s made with clear glue, glitter glue and borax.

We just have to mix them all!

Check out these photos of our children having fun making a galaxy slime!

Kagamigahara Air and Space Museum.

Kagamigahara Air and Space museum was so much fun!

After a fun and energetic bus ride, we arrived to learn all about the history of aircraft, from the first planes in 1919, to the very latest space technology!

Airplanes, helicopters, shuttles and rockets- which was your favorite?

Afterwards, we headed to Inuyama for a yummy lunch of miso dengaku, oden, and rice balls.

Watch out for our “miso mouths”!

Then we boarded the bus back to Beanstalk for our next adventure!

Nagashi Somen.

A day of summery fun was had at Beanstalk today!

We started with a visit from our gym teacher to get some exercise- indoors, due to the “extreme” heat warning.

Then, we all tried our best to smash open some big, lovely watermelons.

After that, we had a delicious lunch of somen and various sides, and the watermelon from earlier! Yum!

Although we weren’t able to have a true nagashi somen experience due to coronavirus precautions, we did have lots of fun practicing for next year.

Everyone did great catching the yarn sliding down the noodle water slide.

Calendar Showing.

A daily schedule on the calendar enables our kids to begin comprehending time and comfortably use the vocabulary that goes along with it and even teaches number recognition and fundamental literacy skills.

Our children ages from two to three, enjoyed this summer school even more since they created and decorated their own calendar, which adds a unique touch.

Please wait while we add more months of fun and learning.
