Winter School Events
This winter school, our theme was The Nutcrackrer!
We did lots of fun activities related to this classic ballet to keep us moving.
Our karate teachers came and showed off their strength with mochitsuki.
We all helped to make smooth, sticky rice cakes!
Although not featured in The Nutcracker, it’s a traditional sweet that we enjoy every year.
We also got a special soccer lesson, which was enjoyed by all.
Aside from sports, we ate a lot of yummy food at our New Year’s party!
All of the students learned about and got to try Nana-kusa gayu, a traditional rice porridge with 7 spring vegetables.
For our craft, we made kites with the Chinese character for “rabbit” as it’s the year of the rabbit this year!
The Nutcracker features dances from all over the world, including China!
We also made mugs to represent the Chinese teas and Arabic coffee featured in the ballet.
Winter School Trips
This year, we tried a lot of new things branching out from our main theme “The Nutcracker.
We took our preschool students sledding in Toyota for some chilly winter fun!
You could really feel the winter mood just like in “Waltz of the Snowflake”!
We also visited “Okashi no Shiro” to bake vanilla and strawberry cookies.
What a treat!
We learned all about cookies from all over the world like gingerbreads and mirliton when reading The Nutcracker, and it was so much fun to make our own.
Happy Birthday to all our January celebrants.
Happy New Year 2023!
Happy New Year!
May the New Year bring you happiness, peace, and prosperity.
Wishing you a joyous 2023!
Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Wishing you all the joy a holiday can hold!
Sleigh Trip
One of the most awaited excursion for the winter school is the trip to Asahi Kogen for sledding!
It was such a fun experience to sled down the snowy hill again and again!
We also got to enjoy a bowl of delicious curry rice for lunch.
Everyone had an awesome day.
Okashi No Shiro
The Okashi No Shiro (Sweets Castle) is an interactive theme park.
The children had a wonderful time choosing a cookie cutter, shaping, and rolling the dough.
After baking we brought our cookies to share at home.
What a nice treat!
Karate & Mochitsuki
It’s winter school!
That means everyone gets the chance to enjoy a karate lesson with Mr. Naoi who is a professional karate athlete.
Then we observed their incredible skill and strength with mochitsuki!
You have to be very strong to pound the sticky rice into a smooth rice cake.
All the children got the chance to try as well.
Afterwards, we all enjoyed some mochi with yummy red bean paste on top for dessert.
Ballet Recital.
We’re proud to announce that we held our first ballet recital at the annual Christmas Concert this year!
The children who participated in the recital take their ballet lessons at Beanstalk every Friday, through the wonderful Masuda Kyoko Ballet Studio.
The little dancers were excited to show off all their training and hard work.
They also enjoyed the special opportunity to wear real ballet costumes for the first time!
Everyone danced well and did an amazing job.
