We really burned our energy away that day. After all that exercise we needed a rest on the bus ride back to school.

We will be going to Tenpaku park again this month to get some more exercise!

Summer School 2019 – Camping

Summer School 2019 - Camping

We all went camping during the final week of summer school.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

Our first port of call was to go shopping and get some food for dinner.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

When we arrived at the campsite there was a delicious curry waiting for us.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

Some of us were very hungry!

Summer School 2019 - Camping

To burn off some of that energy from our curry, we went swimming. The pool was lovely and cool which was a relief from the hot weather.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

After swimming we went to the big field near our camp site to play a few games of capture the flag.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

The student went against the teachers and claimed victory. Who knew 5-10 year olds could be so quick!

Summer School 2019 - Camping

A few quick group photos after the game.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

We were really sweaty!

Summer School 2019 - Camping

Everyone was really hungry and we began preparing dinner.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

We really enjoyed dinner. There was BBQ, yakisoba and we ate the lot!

Summer School 2019 - Camping

After dinner we got a bath and into our pajamas.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

Ready for a good nights sleep.

Summer School 2019 - Camping

The next morning everyone was full of beans and ready for their day at the egg factory and dinosaur museum. (Which you can read about in our previous blog).

It was a great experience for everyone and we all enjoyed our time camping. We can’t wait to go again next year.

Summer School 2019 – Week 4

Our final week of summer school was jam packed full of activities and trips!

We went to the Nagoya Science Museum.

Summer School 4

There was lots of stuff about the body and we recognized things we’d learned throughout our weeks at summer school.

Summer School 4

Putting these organs in the right place was a piece of cake!

Summer School 4

We also found many other interesting things in the museum. These leaves smelled really good!

Eggcellent

Summer School 4

A big part of week 4 was the camping trip. We got to visit an egg factory and learned about the process of packaging eggs.

Summer School 4

After trying out some egg packing ourselves we got to take some home!

Summer School 4

Once the tour was done they provided us with a yummy lunch.

Giant Bones

Summer School 4

Before heading back to school we stopped off at a dinosaur museum.

Summer School 4

There was many interactive things to do in the museum. This one showed you what you’d look like as a caveman.

Summer School 4

We even found some interesting puzzles to solve.

Meanwhile Back at Beanstalk…

Summer School 4

We continued to lean more about the body.

Summer School 4

We also got to make a sorbet and…

Summer School 4

potato chips!

Summer school was a great experience for all of us. We learned so much about our bodies and what we can do to keep them healthy.

Thank you to all the students who attended and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Summer School 2019 – Week 3

Everyone came back to summer school after a two week break to continue discovering more about health and wellness.

Summer School 2019

This week was all about the bodies organs and what we can do to keep them functioning for a long time.

Summer School 2019

Our bodies require food for energy. The food we put into our mouths takes a long journey through several internal organs and makes…

Summer School 2019

poop!

Summer School 2019

The process of making poop can be a messy job.

Summer School 2019

The intestines extract all the good nutrients from the food and leave all the bad stuff for us to poop out.

Not everyone enjoyed recreating this process!

A Nice Day For Somen

Summer School 2019

With the sun shining and the weather hot we went outside to catch some somen.

Summer School 2019

Nagashi somen can be tricky to catch but some of us got our fill very quickly!

Summer School 2019

It wouldn’t be a traditional Nagashi somen day without smashing some watermelons!

Finding Out More About Health

Summer School 2019

We took a trip to a health museum to learn more about internal organs.

Summer School 2019

Did you know that water makes up more than 50 percent of the average adult’s body weight!

Summer School 2019

We all enjoyed our summer break and it was great coming back to do some really fun activities, especially making the poop!

Summer School 2019 – Week 2

We continued to discover more about health and wellness in our second week of summer school.

Summer School 2019

Lots of Blood

Summer School 2019

What better way to learn about blood than fishing through a pool full of it!

Well fake blood.

Summer School 2019

Did you know that your blood is made up of liquid and solids!

Summer School 2019

Everyone collected all the different parts that make up our blood.

It was a messy job but we learned that blood is an intricate part of our bodies.

Flex those Muscles

Summer School 2019

Muscles are interesting things. They keep us from being a blob on the floor and enable us to move around.

Summer School 2019

It’s important to keep your muscles nice and healthy. One way is to exercise. You can go running, play soccer or you can make your own weights and start lifting those!

Another great way to keep those muscles big and strong is too fuel them with food.

Tofu Factory Trip

Summer School 2019

Protein is an essential food group to help muscles grow.

Summer School 2019

Tofu is a great source of protein and we visited a tofu factory to learn more about how it’s made.

Summer School 2019

Everyone got to make their very own container of tofu! We even got to drink some of the soy that made it.

We know that eating the right food can help keep us strong and healthy and it was a lot of fun learning more about it in our second week of summer school.

Summer School 2019 – Week 1

Summer is almost over, but our students have lots to share about their time at summer school!

Summer School

Discover Wellness

Our theme for summer school was health and for each week we broke it done into different topics.

Summer School

Our first week was all about bones and joints.

We learned all about milk and how it’s good for our bones. Speaking of bones, we made all sorts of crafts and found out lots of interesting facts.

Did you know that an adult human body has 206 bones!

Summer School

It’s really important to keep your bones strong. One way you can do it is by practicing yoga.

Milk Factory Trip

Summer School

We went to a milk factory to learn all about the processing and benefits of milk for young children.

Milk has lots of calcium which keeps our bones strong and this is really important for growing children.

Summer School

This cow only gave us water but it was fun milking it.

Summer School

Our first week of summer school was so good. Everyone came out of it knowing some much about our bones. We know how important it is to keep them strong and what food we can eat to keep them that way.

Tsukimi 2019

Tsukimi 2019

Tsukimi (moon-viewing), is a festival honoring the autumn moon, a variant of the Mid-Autumn Festival which dates back over a 1000 years.

To celebrate the students at Beanstalk made dango.

Tsukimi 2019

All of them helped with the mixture of the ingredients.

Tsukimi 2019

*squish squish

Tsukimi 2019

*shake shake

Tsukimi 2019

*mix mix

Tsukimi 2019

A little bit of team work to get that mixture just right.

Tsukimi 2019

With their mixture thoroughly mixed each student started to make their dango ball shapes.

Tanabata 2019

We had a fantastic day celebrating Tanabata here at Beanstalk this week.

Tanabata 2019

The parents and children arrived looking amazing in their yukatas and jinbeis.

Tanabata 2019

The children started to write their wishes ready to hang up on the bamboo tress.

Tanabata 2019

The DeeDee students wrote their wishes all by themselves!
