Autumn is here.
After the long, hot summer, the cool breeze of autumn makes it easier to spend time outdoors.
Playing in the fallen leaves during autumn is fun.
And spending time outdoors is a great way for children to experience nature first-hand.
Let’s take advantage of the nice weather and spend time outdoors.
Congratulations Mr. Uichi!
We are proud to announce our music teacher, Mr. Uichi Kajiyama, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater, Concordia University Chicago.
Mr. Uichi Kajiyama studied at Concordia University Chicago.
While at CUC, he participated in wind symphony and studied conducting from various famous professors.
In 1993, Mr. Kajiyama joined The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. In 1995, he won the Drum Corps International (DCI) Individual & Ensemble Contest in the Multi Percussion Division.
He was the first Japanese person to win a solo competition at DCI.
The Cavaliers won the DCI World Championship that same year.
Mr. Uichi has traveled the world to teach music and judge contests.
His engagements have taken him to the United States, Switzerland, Vienna, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, China, Thailand, Taiwan, and Singapore.
The bands he has led have had great success both in Japan and worldwide.
He will receive the award in Chicago on September 24th in an award ceremony which will be broadcasted online.
Dinomite Learning.
Rawr! Our Deedee Deer Class has been learning about Dinosaurs for their monthly theme.
These incredible and fascinating creatures teach children more about how species come to be, disappear, adapt, and survive.
An interest in dinosaurs also helps children understand the earth’s timeline and appreciate that amazing things existed long before they did.
We had a fun group read and match activity followed by free play with our awesome dinosaur toys with our friends.
Grandparents Day.
We had the chance to thank some special people in our lives- our Grandparents!
All the children worked so hard to create their colorful postcards using all different kinds of materials.
We topped them off by writing a message of love.
Happy Grandparents Day!
Wash your hands!
Proper hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
See how to teach hand washing in a fun way.
Cleaning your hands not only helps prevent you from catching germs, but from spreading them, too – especially to others who may be more susceptible to illness.
Let’s all stay happy, healthy, clean and safe.
Summer School Fun Trips.
And now a look back at our educational and fun trips from summer school.
The enjoyable bus rides, amusing Science Museum, engaging sand art, fascinating space museum and the entertaining nagoya port aquarium trip.
Our children are active learners as they are constantly making connections with the world around them.
With an innate drive to learn and explore, field trips are the perfect way for them to learn outside of a typical classroom setting.
We are excited to take more fun and memorable summer trips next year.
Hope to see you there!
A Summer To Remember.
It’s been just a little over a week since we got back from summer school.
Aside from the enjoyable trips, we did a ton of other memorable activities.
Come have a peek at just some of it.
This always makes us look forward to the next summer school!
We hope to see you then!
Moon Viewing.
It’s time to focus on the moon as we bid a final farewell to the warm summer days.
In Japan, the fall months are when people come together to celebrate the harvest and partake in Tsukimi (“Moon Viewing”) activities, when the moon is especially bright and lovely.
To celebrate, we made crafts, ate delectable dango, and took pictures with a lovely flower bouquet.
Which Season Do You Like?
Our monthly theme in missy mouse class is clothing.
Our kids have learned the distinctions between the four seasons’ weather patterns and what to wear in each one.
Then we did a fun game where kids practiced using their pincer grip to hang up their own shirts.
Everyone had a great time.
