Winter School Events

This winter school, our theme was The Nutcrackrer!

We did lots of fun activities related to this classic ballet to keep us moving.

Our karate teachers came and showed off their strength with mochitsuki.

We all helped to make smooth, sticky rice cakes!

Although not featured in The Nutcracker, it’s a traditional sweet that we enjoy every year.

We also got a special soccer lesson, which was enjoyed by all.

Aside from sports, we ate a lot of yummy food at our New Year’s party!

All of the students learned about and got to try Nana-kusa gayu, a traditional rice porridge with 7 spring vegetables.

For our craft, we made kites with the Chinese character for “rabbit” as it’s the year of the rabbit this year!

The Nutcracker features dances from all over the world, including China!

We also made mugs to represent the Chinese teas and Arabic coffee featured in the ballet.

Winter School Trips

This year, we tried a lot of new things branching out from our main theme “The Nutcracker.

We took our preschool students sledding in Toyota for some chilly winter fun!

You could really feel the winter mood just like in “Waltz of the Snowflake”!

We also visited “Okashi no Shiro” to bake vanilla and strawberry cookies.

What a treat!

We learned all about cookies from all over the world like gingerbreads and mirliton when reading The Nutcracker, and it was so much fun to make our own.
