Radetzky Performance.

A new tradition in our Christmas concert is the performance of Radetzky’s march.

The use of musical nuances such as “piano” quiet “forte” loud, and the opposing values of elegance and roughness not only makes for a lively song to both watch and perform, but a valuable lesson for young learners of music.

This was followed up by a rousing round of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

We sing with the wish that family and friends near and far will have a happy and safe holiday season.

See everyone for part three of the concert report soon!

Merry Early Christmas!

Merry Early Christmas, everyone!

We had a wonderful time at our annual Christmas concert this December 5th.

All the students worked hard not only at learning their songs, dances and drum routines, but making beautiful decorations for the hall to welcome family and friends inside.

Thank you to all the family members who were able to make time in their busy schedules to attend!

We started the concert off with a fun surprise- everyone dressed like Santa Claus!

And what else did we do during the 2 hour long concert?

You’ll have to wait for part 2 to find out!

Happy Thanksgiving 2023.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today all the students helped make a special treat for snack time.

We used a traditional American Thanksgiving food – pumpkin – to make a simple but delicious snack of “pumpkin mochi”.

Students mashed pumpkin and mixed in sugar, salt, soy milk and potato starch to make a clay-like dough, which we filled with cheese.

It was so hard to make a round shape but everyone tried their best. Teachers grilled the patties and we enjoyed our pumpkin mochi with a squeeze of honey or maple syrup.

Yum- it was a big hit!

We were so thankful to spend this day with you!

Let’s Plant Together.

Fall may be here, but we are thinking of spring!

This week all Beanstalk students helped plant our winter/spring garden.

Younger students chose their favorite colors of tulips.

We learned how to gently peel off the outer layer and how to make sure the tops of the bulbs point to the sky.

After planting the bulbs was finished, out oldest students planed many violas on top, which we will be able to enjoy all winter and into the spring.

Strike a pose, it’s Halloween!

We had a groovy time at our Disco in Space themed fashion show and Halloween Trick-or-Treat!

Everyone showed up in their fanciest attire- we were so lucky to have perfect attendance this year!

Lots of moms, dads, grandparents, aunties and more came to cheer our little costumed cuties on.

Everyone did their best and was rewarded with lots of applause and a big bag of treats!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Pumpkin Carving.

We’re getting into the Halloween spirit!

All the students at Beanstalk voted on their favorite pumpkin face, and the winners were immortalized into two scary jack o’lanterns!

We had lots of fun pulling out the wet and slimy insides to prepare the pumpkin for carving.

Teachers carved out the faces and we tried some lights inside to see how they will look all lit up on Halloween night

Moon Viewing.

Tsukimi, meaning moon viewing in Japanese festivals honoring the autumn moon where people come together to celebrate the harvest when the moon is especially bright and lovely.

To celebrate, we made crafts, ate delectable dango, and took pictures with a lovely flower bouquet.
